"Green Nature", CNN Türk / Turkey
Comprehensive clarification of environmental issues
Interventions in the natural world and the environmental destruction by major companies and power companies have intensified steadily even in Turkey in the last few years. Industry is increasingly exploiting forests, mountains and rivers to generate resources and energy, displacing the local population more and more. CNN Türk is making these problems the subject of discussion in its weekly "Green Nature" programme. The programme was first broadcast in 2010. Since then, just under 100 episodes have tackled the most diverse of environmental topics. The producers hope their programme will increase public awareness in Turkey of the issues of resource problems, global warming and the environment. In the process, they have turned their attention not only to environmental destruction and the problems arising from this but also identify concrete methods of resolution. Renewable sources of energy such as wind, sun and geothermal energy are abundant in Turkey. "Green Nature" points these potentials out and calls for consistent use of sustainable energy by showing clear and comprehensible examples. In Turkey, there is little sense that the environment is worthy of protection and there are few opportunities for a regional power supply based on renewables. With "Green Nature", the producers wanted to educate and to make a decisive contribution towards improving public interest.
